Our Philosophy

This is a wonderful time of unlimited energy and natural curiosity in a young child's life.  In a caring and positive atmosphere, we provide a place and a curriculum that is exciting, stimulating, and enjoyable where each child is actively involved in the learning process.

Through an approach that stresses the process rather than the product, each child is encouraged to explore, discover, think, reason, and problem solve.  To construct knowledge, children need to actively manipulate their environment; children learn by doing and play is their work.

Living Lord Preschool is a curriculum based early childhood education center with learning objectives based on state standards in the areas of literacy, math, science, as well as physical, social and emotional development.

Program Goals

*To help each child gain independence and develop a positive feeling about him/herself and his/her abilities to create and learn.

*To help each child develop and interact in a positive way toward teachers and peers.

*To help develop fine and gross motor skills.

*To strengthen each child's language development through listening, speaking and dramatic play activities which we believe are the basis for the acquisition of reading, writing and other communication skills.

*To develop cognitive skills through creative learning activities providing a foundation for entrance into kindergarten.

*To develop a reverence for all living things created by God.

Facility and Classrooms

Living Lord's 12,000 square foot facility allows for great  flexibility in usage of its open spaces and meeting rooms.  The preschool uses the sanctuary for weekly chapel, utilizes the Fellowship Room for whole school events such as our Fall Festival, Sensory Fair, and birthday party for Jesus and uses the upstairs gathering space for large gross motor activities when the weather does not allow us to go outside.

Our three classrooms are light-filled and colorful and designed to promote wonder, curiosity and cognitive stimulation through  a wide variety of sensory and learning centers, as well as introduction to SMARTboards.

Curriculum

The preschool has adopted the learning standards as established by the Mo. Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education (Early
Childhood Division) as the basis of our program. We strive to provide a wide range of developmental appropriate learning experiences through an innovative and interactive theme based curriculum designed to stimulate, assist, support, and sustain emergent skills so that our preschoolers can meet or exceed the
Missouri Learning Standards prior to entering kindergarten.

Ever mindful of the program goals, assessment of student progress is an on-going process usually taking place within the context of daily experiences and activities.  Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled in the spring and Parents As Teachers from Wentzville's School District provides an assessment screening to students residing in the district.
